A Real Pain
Director: Jesse Eisenberg
Rating: ★★★★
Summary: Mismatched cousins reunite for a tour through Poland to honor their beloved grandmother, but their old tensions resurface against the backdrop of their family history.
I really enjoyed the acting in this movie. While everyone has pointed to Kieran Culkin’s performance, which to be fair was really good, I actually appreciated Jesse Eisenberg’s even more. His understated acting, and the monologue at the dinner scene, were both brilliant, and I thought his overshadowing also played out at the awards shows. I also enjoyed a lot of the cinematography. It wasn’t anything fancy, but it did a great job showcasing the cities, art, scenes, people, etc. A pretty good movie.
